The Feed launches new evening meal service for rough sleepers in Norwich

A local social enterprise is launching a new service to provide evening meals in a safe and supportive environment for homeless people in Norwich, as part of the Pathways partnership.

The Feed, a social enterprise and one of the Pathways partners, is launching ‘Nourish’, a service for those who are rough sleeping to access an evening meal indoors, seven days a week. The Feed is recruiting a team of volunteers to provide a warm welcome at venues across Norwich city centre.

Research conducted by The Feed, based on Prince of Wales Road, highlighted best practice recommendations to help other food providers improve access. These included the need for integrated outreach and indoor food provision services to ensure those who are most vulnerable can access support.

The provision is supported by Norwich City Council and the Pathways partnership, made up of seven organisations working together to prevent rough sleeping and support those who are sleeping rough.

Andrea Auburn, Community Engagement Officer for The Feed said, ‘We’re so grateful for the enthusiastic response we’ve received so far from venues, donors and volunteers, who will help to provide this daily service. With the service running seven days a week, our volunteers and supporters play a vital role in helping some of the most vulnerable people in Norwich’

The service will launch in late April and is initially available to people who are rough sleeping, with the potential to expand once COVID-19 restrictions lift.

If you would like to volunteer to serve meals and provide a warm welcome to our guests, please apply online at http://thefeed.org.uk/about/volunteering/ or contact Andrea Auburn, Community Engagement Officer at The Feed, on andrea@thefeed.org.uk or call 07784 359048.
